Boxycharm Reveal: April 2016

This month’s theme is “Cloudy with a Chance of Charms.”

(Subscribe to your box here)

This month’s box was worth $106.90.  Products included:

  • Pur-lisse Lip Comfort:  Made with Mango and Shea Butters, Jojoba and Rice Bran Oils and Vitamin E for hydrating the lips.   I personally did not like the taste of this product.   It feels good on the lips (petroleum free) and actually soaks into the skin versus sitting on top but I can’t get past the taste!  It claims to have no taste but to me I taste really stale orange peel or something.  I’m probably the only person that has this issue.  Otherwise I think it would be a great product for dry chapped lips.
  • Blinc Cosmetics Lash Primer in black:  I thought…”FINALLY AN EYE LASH PRIMER IN BLACK!”  I always complain about lash primer being white.  I want my lashes as dark as possible and I love primer because it makes them fuller and longer, but I always feel like I’m counteracting the mascara because it’s usually white.  I was thrilled to try this out, however this brand made my lashes look like spider legs.  Needless to say it was a flop.
  • Anderson Lilley Hand Cream:  I did not open this because I want to add it to a new collection for another giveaway.  Plus I have so many hand creams and lotions I don’t NEED anymore.
  • Your Minerals Eyeshadows:  Same as above.  I didn’t open this because I don’t need it and I want someone else to have it.  🙂  It’s a really pretty bronze color though!
  • OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Honolulu:  This was my favorite item of this month’s box.  I’ve been dying to try an OFRA lipstick and the color is beautiful.  It is very dark and vampy  so this would be a good color for fall and winter.  They are long lasting and don’t bleed into the skin and they are super creamy and soft.  This one dried to a matte finish.  I am interested in trying more colors.

Have you tried these?  If so what are your thoughts and which colors do you recommend?

  • Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Creme in Wonder:  The super creamy formula is infused with their famous maracuja oil to leave lips feeling oh-so soft. And we’re beyond obsessed with the soft poppy pink shade.  Perfect your pout! Swipe once for a sheer wash of color, or build for more intensity.
P.S. It also doubles as a cheek color! Apply to the apples of cheeks and blend for a radiant flush of color.
  • Pur-lisse Beauty Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask and Pur-lisse Beauty Blue Lotus + Seaweed Sheet Mask:  Think of these sheet masks as your skincare storm troopers! Each individually wrapped sheet traps a powerful solution of Asian botanicals, seaweed, white tea and antioxidant rich Blue Lotus in your skin. The result? A plumper, more radiant complexion.  After removing the mask, don’t wash your face. Gently rub the extra serum into your skin and décollatage using upward circular motions — this helps to keep skin firmer!

E.L.F. Play Beautifully Unboxing – April 2016

Hello beauties!  As if you didn’t already know, I LOVE receiving these subscription boxes in the mail, but what I really love is unveiling these boxes and providing you quick mini-reviews on the products, to save you from having to do the hard work. 🙂  Let’s get to it!

  • Small Angled Brush – $3

  • Pout Perfecter – $3

Mini Product Review:

  • Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Black – I’ve always been a fan of elf’s liquid eyeliner and for $3 you can’t go wrong.  It applies smoothly and is long lasting.
  • Small Stipple Brush – This brush is great for stippling in makeup into those small and/or hard to reach places.  Also great for precise product placement.
  • Small Angled Brush – This is one of my favorite brushes to apply eyeliner or brow product with.  This is also the third one I’ve collected.  The first two were by choice and purchased on my own.  I have one in my professional MUA kit and this one has joined that family as well.  I highly recommend this brush.
  • Mascara & Shadow Shield – I added this in my MUA kit as well.  It’s good to help guard against fall out and help prevent mascara smears if you are applying mascara to someone (or yourself).  This is great especially if they (or you) are really “blinky”.
  • Glitter Primer – Great primer for glitter or those really shimmer eyeshadows.  Helps glitter or shadows adhere to the lid and locks it in place to help prevent fallout.
  • Pout Perfecter – I did not try this out because I want to give it away.  The color was too pink and glittery for me.
  • Eye Primer & Liner Sealer – I would recommend the regular eye primer over this one.  I didn’t like the way it applied.  I felt like it was hard to distribute evenly.
  • HD Blush – WOAH.  Maybe if this was in a lighter shade or a more natural shade I would like this.  This HD blush is way too bright and a little goes a LOOOOONG way.  It comes with a pump application and the first few pumps nothing happened, then it exploded all over my hand.  Needless to say my hands were stained Bright-Barbie-Pink for a day or two.
  • Eyebrow Stencil Kit – I can’t be too choosy when a product is only a $1.  There are four different stencils but I found it a little difficult to hold in place to use.  I would rather fill in my brows free handed.  Plus the stencils are a little thicker than my actual brow.  Meh.
  • Party Ready Palette – If I had to chose between this palette or the Wet-n-Wild Quartz Center palette, I’d go the WNW route.  The colors are very similar but the elf version has horrible fall out.  I ended up with more shadow on my cheeks than my lids.  Maybe that’s why they included the Shadow Shield in with the box?  Plus the WNW palette is also only $6.99
  • Bronzer Palette  – I like this inexpensive bronzer palette.  (In the picture it appears a lot lighter than it actually is). It comes with two matte shades and two shimmers for custom bronzing/contouring.  Can be used as eyeshadow as well.

If you want to see a makeup look using all of these products let me know!
