Blue Lace Romper + Paris

I have always had a love for Paris (even before visiting), there was always this magical pull that tugged at my heart-strings.  I have Paris decor in my beauty room and even our vacation rental is decorated in a Parisian theme.  A lifelong dream was always to go there and experience the sidewalk cafe’s, croissants, the yummy cheese, and of course to see the beautiful architecture and Eiffle Tower.  I finally got the chance to visit the beautiful city on a European trip the husband and I took last month.  It didn’t disappoint!

On our last night we watched the sunset on a rooftop bar and it was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.  If you ever get a chance to visit Paris, I highly recommend finding a romantic spot and watching this phenomenon.

Before leaving, I was rummaging through a cute little boutique in Annapolis and ran across this amazing blue lace romper.  I tried it on and thought it would be a great date-night outfit in Paris.

Outfit details:

I kept it very simple with the accessories.  When I travel, I travel very light…like two weeks in a carry on type light (I plan on doing a how to post on this in the near future).  Besides, the star was the romper.

Quick Tip Tuesday: Necklace Travel Hack

Ever travel and get annoyed when you go to unpack your jewelry and your necklaces are all wadded in a knot?  A trick I’ve learned over the years is to thread the necklace through a straw and latch it to prevent any tangling.  They still pack well since they don’t take up any space and the straw can also be cut to fit shorter chains.  This hack has been a lifesaver for me many times. You’re welcome.  😜

Fall Purse Haul 2017

Technically fall is right around the corner, but to me it started September 1st, as it does every year in my book.  I’m one of those annoying people that breaks out the fall & Halloween decor early, start wearing boots and sweaters (even though it’s still 80 degrees outside) and naturally pumpkin spice everything.  OH and I can’t forget to mention FOOTBALL!!!! I can’t help it, I just LOVE this time of year.

I normally am not one to buy purses much anymore, (that was another story years ago) because I tend to carry small clutches now.  That being said, I decided to get some much needed new handbags since I purged my closet the other day and discarded several that were battered and tattered and what not.   So today I’m sharing with you some affordable styles I’m loving this year for fall (which you could carry these bags all year round, I just needed a good excuse for a purse post).

BACKPACKS ARE BACK!!  But did they actually go away?  I haven’t had a backpack handbag since I was probably in the 7th or 8th grade.  I remember it very well.  It was a black faux leather mini backpack with drawstrings.  I wonder whatever happened to it….ANYWAY….I’ve been noticing a lot more backpack style purses in stores and online recently and fell back in love with them.

The other day I was shopping with my sister and we both picked up this cute velvet floral backpack at the same time.  Great minds think alike!!  So what did we do?  Bought matching purses of course!!!

Quick Tip Tuesday: Shop Your Closet

Does this sound familiar…

“I have absolutely nothing to wear!”

…but your closet looks like this?

Chances are, you have several pieces in your wardrobe that you haven’t worn or have only worn one time.  My tip is to shop your closet!  Regardless of it’s size, go through and pick out all the clothes that still have price tags (guilty) or that you have only worn once.  If you have the room, create a space in your closet (or you could use a spare closet) and put all the unworn/one time worn clothing in one spot.  Then when the statement from above arises again, skip the mall and go to that new section of your closet.  Not only will it save you money, it’ll save you time and energy looking for an outfit.

Quick Tip Tuesday: Prevent Hose/Tights From Running

Spray your tights or panty hose all over with a light coat of hair spray to prevent holes from forming or running.  The hairspray bonds the fibers together making them harder to snag.

How To: Wear A Graphic Tee

I think graphic shirts are so playful, fun and quirky and besides, who doesn’t love a good soft t-shirt?   I’ve noticed lately they tend to multiply in my closet (unbeknownst to me of course).  Does this happen to anybody else?  However, as much as I love wearing them, I do tire of the same ole “jeans/lounge wear & t-shirt” look.  Today I’m going to share some simple tips on how to spruce up those graphic t-shirts.

Four basic tips you need for styling graphic tee’s (or plain t-shirts):

  • TUCK– Play with tucking instead of just letting the shirt hang naturally.  There’s the classic full tuck (tuck shirt in completely then raise arms over head to untuck the shirt slightly then straighten out areas that may still be tucked in too much), the front tuck (tuck a small section of shirt into the center of waistband then pull the sides down so they fall out over the waistband) and the side tuck (same as the front tuck except tuck at either the left or right hip bone and pull down other side).
  • KNOT– This is a great way to style those oversized t-shirts.  Tie a front knot for a cinched waist or cropped top look.  Take it a step further and tie a knot to the side for an asymmetrical look.
  • BLING– Bling bling baby!  Pair with statement jewelry or shoes (or both) to dress up the t-shirt.
  • STRUCTURE– Think moto jacket, jean jacket, button down shirt, leather pants, pencil skirt, maxi skirt or fitted blazer.

Quick Tip Tuesday: Diamond Ring Cleaning Hack

I was examining my ring the other day to make sure the diamond wasn’t loose in the setting and under closer inspection, I realized there was this god awful haze on the band and gunk all over the diamond. I’m not gonna lie, it grossed me the heck out.  If you’re like me and hardly ever take off your ring(s) then you probably notice that it’s not near as shiny or lustrous as it used to be.  It’s not always easy to get to the jeweler for a shine up or it can just be plain inconvenient,  so I’m sharing my go-to hack that will shine it up like new without even having to leave the house.  This can be used on diamond earrings and necklaces too.

All you need:

  • Liquid Dish Soap (like Dawn)
  • Warm Water
  • Small Bowl

This method is safe for all settings and metal types.  Simply add dish soap and warm water to the bowl and soak ring for 20-40+ min depending on how dirty it is.  If there is still any leftover residue, use an old soft bristle toothbrush and lightly brush the ring.  Never use sharp or hard metal to remove residue as you could damage the metal/diamond or loosen the setting.  Rinse the ring under warm running water to remove all soap and repeat if necessary.

Re-Work Your Denim Skirt

In keeping with the denim theme from last week, today I’m going to share some ways to revamp that denim skirt in the back of your closet.  I haven’t been this excited about something from my past resurfacing since NKOTB reunited.  I started noticing denim skirts popping back up in my favorite stores and immediately regretted discarding my old skirts.  Thanks to Express I now have one recirculating in my wardrobe.
