July Favorites 2016

Here are all the products I’ve been loving the month of July!

(I purchased the Caudalie Beauty Elixir set which includes the foaming cleanser, detox mask and elixir – $49.  Great set for the value because it allows you to try all three products)

NYX Dewy Finish Makeup Setting Spray:  This spray sets your makeup to lock it in place all day while creating a dewy finish.  You can also use it during the day to refresh your look or to help break up any products that has caked up on the skin.

June Favorites 2016

I can not believe half the year is gone!!!  I mean seriously, I blinked and June was over.  Is it just me or are the months getting shorter and shorter?  My monthly favorites list is on the short side too, as I haven’t had a lot of time to test/try out new products but here you go!

Marc Jacobs Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator:  DISCLOSURE  I did receive this product complimentary for testing purposes from Marc Jacobs Beauty & Influenster.  I was stoked to receive this product because I have been wanting to try it and I love it.  If I didn’t, it wouldn’t have made it into this month’s favorites. This is a cream stick highlighter (which resembles a deodorant stick) that comes in a universal shade called Spotlight, which is flattering to all skin tones.  It has pearly gold and silver pigments which allows both warm and cool complexions to beam on the skin to create that “dewy glow from within” look.   It can be applied directly to the skin, or can be applied with your fingers or with a brush and blends out smoothly for a natural, radiant look.  I like to use it as a base under my powder highlighters to really boost that shimmery glow.

May Favorites 2016

May was a busy but great month for me.  I’ve been on the go-go-go all month long; from entertaining guests, traveling and doing hair & makeup for weddings, I’ve hardly had time to tend to the blog.  I apologize for the sparse posts but I will always make time to share my favorite products of the month with you.  In no particular order here are May’s favorites:

This may take a while to get through as I have quite a few this month!!!

Lavinalla Pure Vanilla Body Butter:  I received a sample of this lotion in one of my monthly subscription boxes and carried it with me while traveling and instantly fell in love with it.  I ordered a full size immediately online and had it waiting for me when I came home.  This is the most hydrating, non-greasy lotion I have found that is all natural.  It’s 100% pure Shea & Cocoa Butters blend with antioxidants and essential oils for long-lasting hydration and absorbs instantly into skin, leaving it feeling extremely soft.  If you are a fan of vanilla scents this one is for you.  There are six vanilla scents to choose from:  Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Coconut, Vanilla Grapefruit, Vanilla Lavender, Vanilla Lemon & Vanilla Summer.  These products are also paraben, aluminum and cruelty free.

April Favorites 2016

Another month has come and gone yet again.  It feels like the older I get the more time speeds up and I’m not sure I like that too much!  Aye, but what can you do?

My favorites this month are listed below:

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette:  This all matte palette features three color quads in neutral, cool, and warm shades which flatters every skintone.  These shadows are a velvety powder that easily blends and builds to create gorgeous and versatile looks.  They are highly-pigmented and long-wearing.  The palette comes with three base shades in Laetus (creamy nude), Lazarus (cool taupe), Ludwin (peachy bronze).  Three contour shades in Samael (dusty fawn), Saleos (smoky brown), Succubus (rich rust).  Three definer shades in Solas (espresso brown), Shax (jet black), Sytry (chocolate brown) and three highlight shades in Lucius (soft beige), Liberatus (pinkish ivory), Latinus (golden bisque).  If you’re in search of an all matte natural palette then I highly recommend splurging on this one.  This palette has actually been out for a while, I was just late to the ball game on trying it out for myself.  I wish I had sooner!

March Favorites 2016

End of the month = My beauty favorites!  I’ve been on a glowing skin kick this month and this month’s favorites revolve mainly around skincare products.

IMG_1461_Fotor

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits:  These palettes come in two shades, Gleam (for lighter skin tones) and That Glow (for darker skin tones).  They come with four velvety finishing powders that can be used for highlighting or bronzing to create perfect glowing skin.  I like these because you get a lot of bang for your buck, they can be worn together or separately, the powders are very pigmented, a little goes a long way and they are long-lasting.  I highly recommend one of these (or both) if you’re in the market for a good highlighter. December Favorites

Good evening my beauties!  I may or may not be a little late at getting my favorite products for December posted for you.  Oopsie!  Hopefully you guys are off to a better start to 2016 than me!

We traveled quite a bit throughout the month of December and these are the things I found myself packing for those trips.  Especially, the dainty jewelry pieces.  They are lightweight and went with anything I wore.  I have several items to share with you, so here we go!

Novemeber Favorites

Can you believe it’s the end of November already!?  Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now Christmas is right around the corner.  Does time fly by as quickly for you, as it seems to do for me?  Craziness!

Here are my top favorite products I’ve been loving this month:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion:  This is an acne spot treatment drying lotion that works very quickly and effectively.  This treatment is formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients to shrink pimples and whiteheads virtually overnight. It’s safe for all skin types (will not dry out your skin like other acne treatments).  Every now and then those pesky hormones will cause a random pop up on me.  Ladies, this is a miracle in a bottle.  I love this stuff.   Use it before bed after your night time cleansing routine, dip a Q-tip into the pink sediment and apply a dab of lotion directly on your trouble spot by using a Q-tip.  Don’t rub it in. Let it dry and rinse off in the morning. DO NOT shake the bottle.

Covergirl The Super Sizer Mascara:  (Star Wars limited edition packaging here)  I have the waterproof version in the regular tube and the non waterproof in the Star Wars tube.  I’ve heard mixed reviews on this product but I love it.  It works great for me.  The wand is small and narrow so it makes it easy to reach every lash.  It glides on easily, is long wearing, lengthens and adds volume.  I usually only need one coat vs. my normal two coats with other mascaras.  My favorite part about it is that it doesn’t flake or smudge.  I don’t use the waterproof version often only because it is hard to remove!  Takes a lot of scrubbing.  Have you tried it?  If so, what are your opinions on it?

e.l.f. spf 20 Face Primer:  I received this primer in my e.l.f. beauty box at the end of October and was pleasantly surprised.  It has a slight gritty feel to it when your first apply but the more you rub it into your skin it dissolves.  It makes my skin feel silky and smooth, almost like an extra moisturizer.  It makes foundation application quick and easy and creates a flawless look.  It’s comparable to Smash Box’s Photo Finish Primer ($49).  I’m glad it was sent to me, because I probably never would have picked it up and would have missed out on this treasure.  So if you’re looking to save some money on a good but less expensive primer, this is my suggestion at $6.

BH Cosmetics palettes:  I couldn’t pick just one.  I have three that I’m loving.

  1. BH Cosmetics Modern Mattes Palette – 28 matte shades for $7!!!!!!
  2. BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette – 14 eyeshadows and 4 highlighters (2 could be bronzers).  $12.50
  3. BH Cosmetics Blushed Neutrals Palette – 21 blush/neutral eye shadows (satin, matte and shimmer) and 5 blushes for $10.

Not only are they VERY AFFORDABLE but the quality is just as amazing as higher end products.  All shades are very pigmented, blends well, long wearing and non creasing,  I would highly recommend BH Cosmetics to anyone.  They’re especially perfect for people on a budget.

Star Wars Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick  in shade #30:  This lipstick is ridiculously (in a good way) pigmented and glides on smoothly.  This is my new “go to red” color.  I haven’t tried any of the other shades yet but if they are anywhere close to this, I want them all!  This rich lipstick is infused with shea butter and is long wearing.  I wore it to dinner the other night and it was still in place after eating and drinking.  I recommend this to anyone that loves rich red lipstick or lipstick in general!

In picture below I am wearing the #30 lipstick and BH Cosmetics Blushed Neutral palette as mentioned above.

September Favorites

Hey beauties!  I have several favorites this month to share with you, so let’s jump right in!

Quick review:

Too Faced Star Dust palette by Vegas Nay:  This has been my go-to palette since day one of purchasing it.  If you never listen to me about a product recommendation, that’s fine…but listen to me about this one.  GET IT if you haven’t already.  It’s priced reasonably at $45.  Not only do you get 12 versatile matte and shimmery shades, but you also get the Better Than Sex Mascara, Too Faced Deluxe Insurance Primer, loose glitter pigment & six glamour guides.  This is a $192 value and will make a great Christmas gift.  For my full review click here.

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation:  This foundation claims that it “gives an all-day flawless coverage and better-looking skin in 3 weeks. The foundation reduces the appearance of spots, bumps, dullness and redness and gives you a brighter, more even and smoother skin.” -Maybelline.

I personally have not used it for three straight weeks to be able to agree to this statement or not.  However, the few times I have used it. I’VE LOVED IT.  The formula is amazing.  I want to put it to the three week test, but right now coming out of Summer, it’s a little light for my skin.   It’s a medium to full coverage foundation that gives me a flawless finish, but doesn’t feel heavy on my skin.  It is long wearing and doesn’t smudge.  I feel like this would be a good affordable ($11.99) foundation for all skin types.

IT brushes for Ulta – The Airbrush Blurring Foundation brush ($24) is the first Ulta brush I have purchased.  My brush collection consists mainly of MAC, Sigma, e.l.f. & Sonia Kashuk.  It is a little pricey but not overpriced, in my opinion.  My gamble paid off, I love the way it applies foundation to my face.  The synthetic brush hair blends makeup smoothly and evenly for an airbrushed finish look.  Its dome shape provides easy control for all over application.  I notice myself reaching for this brush over my beauty blenders.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel–  I happened to run across this moisturizer on sale so picked it up to give it a try.  I’ve been using Oil of Olay since I was 21 (long time folks) and while I love it and it has done well for me, I decided to venture out and try something new.  I noticed this was a water based product vs. oil, which means it won’t clog pores.  YAY!  No breakouts!  It is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, which is a natural component of skin, so it helps lock in and retain moisture all day.  It leaves your skin feeling hydrated and supple without being heavy or greasy.  I love it because it’s refreshing and my skin feels great all day.  A little goes a long way too.  Doesn’t require a lot of product for all over coverage.

Eco-Beauty Good Night. Night Cream–  Thanks to Ipsy, I discovered this gem!  I received a sample in my August Glam Bag and it lasted me throughout the entire month of September.  In fact I’m just about to finish up the sample.  I loved this night cream so much I bought TWO jars of this!  It is pricier than drugstore but less than high-high end.  It runs about $40 a jar. I read testimonies online that this night cream was better than creams that run $200+.  Good for us!  It has received 5 star ratings across the board.  I give it 5 stars as well.  While I do love my usual Oil of Olay, (as I mentioned above that I’ve used forever) I’d choose this night cream over it, any day.  I noticed a difference in my skin right away, within a few days at that.  It too, has hyaluronic acid.  It also includes; vitamin E, aloe, natural shea butter,  folic acid, antioxidant panthenol, & an anti-aging botanical complex.  So basically, while you sleep, this cream works overtime.  I noticed smoother lines and plumper skin almost instantly.  My skin feels and looks amazing.  The other day I was driving down the road and I looked in my mirror and noticed my skin had a natural glow about it.  I didn’t have on a lick of makeup, bronzer or highlighter either.  That was the moment I decided to buy two jars.   I want to bathe in this stuff y’all!!  I’m not kidding.

Gucci Bamboo perfume & lotion–  Perfume is one of those things that isn’t for everybody or at least certain scents.  I normally don’t even care for a lot of perfumes but this one, I’m in love with.  I have only a select few that I like enough to mention, and this is probably the top one.  I received this sample set in an online Ulta purchase.  One day Mack (the fiance) and I, were driving around with my Jeep top down, and he complimented me on how good I smelled.  I had only just applied a little bit of the lotion to my arms.  Now, you know it’s strong when you can smell someone’s lotion riding in a topless Jeep.  Y’all it’s STRONG, so a little goes a LOOOOOOOONG way.  Even though it is on the strong side, it does smell phenomenal.

“Soft and intense at once, Gucci Bamboo’s sensorial composition draws its inspiration from the Gucci woman’s harmonious dichotomy. Natural and resonant ingredients create a captivating olfactory story. Woody and warm notes vibrate through the heart and base. Deep Sandalwood, heady Tahitian Vanilla and unique grey Amber accords strike a complementary contrast with the inherent femininity found in exotic floral notes of soft Casablanca Lily, feminine Orange Blossom and delicate Ylang Ylang.” -Gucci
